Softbank's second innovation programme shows ARM opportunties

By Nick Flaherty www.flaherty.co.uk

Softbank in Japan has launched the second round in its ‘SoftBank Innovation Program’ incubator scheme.

The program aims to create new value by combining the innovative solutions and technologies of other companies with SoftBank’s own resources, which now includes access to the ARM processor families.

The potential for collaboration with ARM is highlighted by the categories: Smart Homes, Connected Vehicles, Healthcare and Drones, all of which are using ARM-based devices.

SoftBank selects applications that it deems to be innovative and superior, and then provides funding for prototype development, environments for test marketing and other forms of assistance. Based on the test marketing results, SoftBank then considers product or service commercialization.

The other categories are FinTech (finance technologies) and VR (virtual reality) / AR (augmented reality) / MR (mixed reality).
The entry period runs from today until September 30th, but applicants have to be available in Tokyo or the US for interview (shame there's no European option - Cambridge anyone?)
